The MFL Winter 2018 Division I Champions are Les Pelotes de Laine!

After beating Les Truites on Saturday Les Pelotes de Laine went on to face the Pepsi May Wests in the MFL Winter 2018 Division I final.

While the Pepsi May Wests QB Stephen Persaud threw 5 touchdown passes with no interceptions, Les Pelotes de Laine QB Dominic Lefort edged him out with 3 TD passes and adding 3 touchdown runs including the game winner with 4 plays left in the game.

The final was an offensive show with Les Pelotes de Laine ending up victorious in a 39-33 final to take home the MFL Winter Div I Championship trophy.  Congratulations to them and thanks to all of our players for a great season!

MFL Winter Football Continues!

MFL Winter Football Continues!

After a bit of a false start, the MFL 2018 Winter season is underway and despite the fact that we’ve only had one game in three weeks, we should be back on track to be playing every Saturday from 6-10 pm for the rest of the season.

In addition to that, each team will have a double header game to make up for the lost day due to the dome closure.

It should be a great season with two divisions full of competitive teams and the championship trophies are anyones to win!

And when you’re out there and things are looking bad, no matter what the score or what your team’s record is, just remember that Jon Evans has a 45 yard rushing touchdown, so truly anything is possible!

The Division I Championship match saw the Holy Trollers defeat the Locomotion to secure their first title since the days of the Louis-Cyr League!

Congratulations to all of the Holy Trollers and a big thank you to all of our players for a great fall season!  We hope to see you this January for the winter season or next year in the spring!

The MFL Scores Against Cancer

The MFL Scores Against Cancer

Hey everyone,

Thanks to the efforts of David Cano, one of our long time players, the MFL will be doing some fund raising for the Quebec Cancer Foundation and we'd like as many of our teams as possible to represent us!

The donations will be done by team (someone on your team will need to setup the team for donations on the website - instructions will follow) and we'll be running the fundraiser until November 11th (the end of the fall season).

The team that has the most money donated will get a $300 discount on their next season!

Here's all the information you should need from David, but please ask if you have any questions:

The MFL scores against cancer - MFL on marque contre le cancer

Our flag football league will participate in a fundraiser activity for the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
It is super easy to participate, it is completely on-line (with credit card) and donations of at least 20$ are tax deductibles.

On the field, we like to compete. Well, let's compete for a good cause. Which will be MFL team collecting more money?

Every team has to create a profile on the event page and start promoting it with players, family and friends.

To create a profile, the teams captains should:
1- Go to http://www.granddefoulement.ca/mfl-scores-against-t…/accueil
2- Click on PARTICIPER (participate).
3- Set a money goal for the team.
4- Create an account with email and password, name, picture, etc.
5- To activate the account, you need to make a first donation of at least 10$
Tip: In order to get the tax receipt of the first donation with your name on it, you can create the account with your personal name . Once you've got the receipt by email, you can go to change your profile and put the name of your team as well as the logo.
6- Start promoting your team with all the people you know.

To make donations and support one of teams, anybody should:
1- Go to http://www.granddefoulement.ca/mfl-scores-against-t…/accueil
2- Choose the team you want to support and click on PARRAINER CE PARTICIPANT (sponsor this participant)
3- Specify the amount of your donation
4- Complete your personal information to get a TAX RECEIPT.
5- Pay with credit card.

If somebody wants to donate to the activity, but not to any specific team, just click on FAIRE UN DON (make a donation) and follow the steps 3 to 5 here above.

And thanks a lot for contributing.

MFL Week 1 Wrap Up

MFL Week 1 Wrap Up

It was a great opening weekend for the MFL Fall season at Ignace-Bourget park on Saturday with all of our teams at the same park again for the first time this year.

Div 1 saw three very close games (and one blow out that we won’t talk about) with the Coqs eking out a 2 point win over the Outlaws, but still wasn’t as tight as the Krakens last play of the game win over the OG Panthers.  The game everyone stopped to watch though, was the Locomotion versus Revolucion game which saw two high powered offenses gunning it out with the Locomotion finally taking the win in the end by making a goal line stand to take the W.

In Division 2, Old School looked like they were still in a funk from their loss in the finals in the spring, but they’ve got the talent to be strong contenders for the championship this fall.  The Team 8 vs Team 4 matchup saw a tight defensive game with each team only scoring one offensive TD, but Team 8 came out on top with a pick 6 to get a 12-6 final win.

The Raccoons faced a Team 5 squad that was composed of subs, but it still turned out to be a great game with Team 5 stopping a 2 point conversion on the last play of the game to get the 21-19 win, though the Raccoons still got the forfeit win.  Finally, Team 7 against Team 6 saw the experience of Aftab Mian lead his Team 6 over Team 7 in a convincing first win of the year.

Next week we’ll be playing at Ignace-Bourget again for the second week of cross-conference games, but it will be the last week there as the park is under construction by the city after that.  And don’t worry Eastern conference teams, all of your cross-town games are done!
